Artist of Artitude x KindTree project Alisa McLaughlin is a writer and artist living in Eugene. She was diagnosed with ASD later in life. "My interest in painting was inspired by my mother, who was a great but unrecognized artist. While she used a muted palette in acrylics (her favorite color, the family used to joke, was gray), I was drawn to the vibrant, transparent quality of watercolor. Art is a great way for me to relax because, as someone with ASD, everything in life is a constant struggle to be correct and 'normal'. Painting allows me to express myself without judgment as there is no wrong way to do it."
